Event Description :
On August 4th, 2023, the members of EBSB (Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat) - VESIT embarked on a profoundly meaningful journey to visit Bapuji Babaji Jadhav Smarak Vidyamandir situated in the serene village of Chandip. The primary objective of this visit was to empower student skills and foster their creativity by cultivating an environment conducive to skill development. The aim was to prepare these young minds for the challenges that lie ahead. Accompanied by Geeta Ma'am, the group departed from the college at 6:15 AM and reached the school by 9:15 AM, initiating a day of inspiration and growth.
The day commenced with a brief yet heartwarming seminar, where warm greetings were extended to the teachers of Bapuji Babaji Jadhav Smarak Vidyamandir. The school's principal, a prominent figure in the educational realm, provided a concise introduction, setting the tone for the day's proceedings. Following this, Dr. Geeta Ajith, the head of EBSB-VESIT, addressed the gathering, offering insights into the purpose and significance of the visit. She elaborated on the origin of the event's name, "Aashayein" and how it encapsulated the essence of enriching student skills and providing them with a platform to express their creativity.
The highlight of the visit was an engaging drawing competition, which garnered enthusiastic participation from students in grades 5 to 8. The volunteers had already been organized into groups, with each assigned to specific classes. After the seminar, they seamlessly transitioned to their respective classrooms to facilitate the drawing competition.
With the assistance of the school staff, the volunteers effectively managed the entire event, ensuring its smooth execution.
For students in grades 5 and 6, the drawing theme revolved around tree plantation, emphasizing 'vrusharopan'. Meanwhile, grades 7 and 8 were tasked with the theme of 'Ganeshutsav', focusing on eco-friendly approaches to celebrate the festival.
To foster a relaxed and engaging atmosphere, icebreaker activities were initiated by the volunteers. The students participated eagerly, contributing to discussions revolving around the drawing competition themes. The dedicated volunteers seized this opportunity to educate the students about the significance of trees and their role in enhancing our lives. This step aimed at instilling environmental consciousness among the young minds and igniting fresh ideas.
In grades 7 and 8, discussions centered around sustainable practices for celebrating Ganesh Utsav. Insightful ideas, such as using biodegradable materials for decorations and opting for clay idols that dissolve harmlessly in water, were shared to promote environmental sustainability during the festivities.
To equip the participants, volunteers distributed necessary stationery including drawing sheets, oil pastels, and sketch pens. With the stage set, the competition commenced, allowing participants a generous one-hour duration to showcase their creativity.
The schedule was divided, with classes 5 to 7 taking place from 10 AM to 12 PM. A one-hour break followed from 12 PM to 1 PM, after which class 8 convened from 1 PM to 3 PM. Post-competition, the school teachers undertook the crucial responsibility of selecting winners. Recognizing their artistic achievements, cash prizes of 3000, 2000, and 1000 rupees were awarded to the first, second, and third place winners respectively. Witnessing the students' dedication and passion was indeed heartening.
The visit to Chandip village school on August 4th embodied meaningful interactions, creativity, and knowledge-sharing. It proved to be an enriching experience for both the school students and the dedicated volunteers, fostering a day of growth and inspiration.
'Brushstroke of hope' students also showcased their vibrant artwork inspiring tree plantation. These kids depict a future filled with lush greenery.
